Today, most dentistry revolves around prevention. Prevention of tooth decay is carried out through proper hygiene (tooth brushing and flossing), fluoride, and tooth polishing. Regular appointments help setup a regular schedule of these preventative treatments.

While prevention is our first goal, many treatments and interventions are still needed. The majority of procedures are carried out to treat the two most common oral diseases, dental caries (tooth decay) and periodontal disease (gum disease). The most common treatments include restoration of teeth (filings, crowns and bridges), extraction, scaling of teeth in relation to gum disease and root canals.
