Dr. Tyler Phelan

Tyler was raised in North Kingstown, Rhode Island. Following his high school education at Bishop Hendricken, he enrolled at the University of Rhode Island, earning his Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences. Throughout his time at URI, he actively participated in the lacrosse team. It was during a routine practice session that he accidentally fractured his tooth, prompting him to seek treatment at Exquisite Smiles. This experience ignited his interest in dentistry, leading him to pursue it as a career path. Subsequently, he decided to pursue his passion by attending dental school in Canada. Specifically, he chose Halifax, Nova Scotia, where he completed his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at Dalhousie University in May 2019.

Dr. James Phelan

Dr. James Phelan, D.M.D, M.A.G.D, holds the esteemed title of master in the Academy of General Dentistry, a recognition granted to only around 3% of dentists worldwide. He is a distinguished graduate of the L.D. Pankey Institute, which is renowned for its excellence in dental education. Having attained continuum V status, he now serves as a mentor to new members of the institute. Dr. Phelan earned his dental degree from Tufts School of Dental Medicine in 1983 and furthered his education with a one-year postgraduate “clerkship” specializing in special needs dentistry at Tufts in 1984, fostering his dedication to compassionate patient care. A prominent figure in the dental community, he has held positions such as past president and board member of the Southeastern district of the Massachusetts Dental Society, contributing extensively to its ethics committee and serving as a delegate for numerous years.
